Pink Piggy NEW Website!!

This project has been a long time in the making and I'm so excited to announce the NEW and improved Pink Piggy Website! An epic photo shoot took place a few months ago in preparation for this launch, a collaboration of the best wedding vendors in the state to provide something yet to be seen in Utah! The concept of the shoot was to feature our work in a new high fashion vintage identity. By combining couture gowns {Alta MODA Bridal}, professional hair and make-up {Enizio}, custom floral design {Studio Stems}, and the best wedding photographers in town {Retrospect Studios}! Alison's Invites!

I love the color of Alison's invites! Got to love that green... paired with the metallic bronze brown and ivory pearl stock. We did a pocket style invite for her close family and friends that were invited to the ceremony and dinner. For the remaining announcements we eliminated the pocket fold and just backed the announcement with the bronze card stock, and added a wicked green paper belly band with a monogram seal! This is such a great option for those brides that love the pocket style, but want to also keep the costs low!

Allison's Invites!

I love pink! And I really love the shade of pink we used for Allison's Invites! We used a swirl inspired design that carried through on all the insert cards. We printed on a ivory linen stock and used a neutral pyrite shimmer stock for the pocket. {Neutral colors such as tans and champagnes are great accent colors for any color combinations, and mix and match linens and shimmer stock for a great contrast.}

I especially love the matching custom thank you cards with pink envelopes!

Vanessa has a green and black damask theme for her beautiful wedding at Rose Sachs Garden. We incorporated the same damask pattern into her custom pocket invitations as well as for the return address on the back of the envelopes! I love how everything coordinated from the invitations all the way down to the table linens!

How cute are photo Valentine's Day Cards?! My cousin wanted to do something different instead of sending out Christmas Cards so I designed this V-Day card printed on both sides with her DARLING children on it! The cards were printed on pearl photo cards with matching hot pink envelopes!

This is an insperation board I created using the mimosa yellow color of the year! I'm really loven how fresh it looks and I think this is a great color or even accent color for a wedding!

La Caille Bridal Show!

DIY Christmas Gift Tags!

How cute are these gift tags! These are letterpress gift tags that I saw on Lucky Me! Blog and I just love them! Someone once told me that when giving a gift to someone you should spend about $2-$4 just for the wrapping or gift bag. Shouldn't it be enough that you are getting them a gift in the first place? Well, yes.... but going the extra mile on creative wrapping shows that person that you not only wanted to get them a gift, but that you took the time to personalize it and make it special. I have to say that I really do try to keep this in mind when giving gifts to someone. It just completes the package! DIY gift tags are the perfect thing to add to your Christmas gifts and they can be really inexpensive! All you need is card stock, ribbon and a hole punch! You can buy pre-cut shaped card stock or blank card stock gift tags at any local craft store. You can add the text by hand, stamps, rub-0ns, stickers, etc. and to top them off add some cute ribbon to tie the custom tag onto the box or bag. You can go all out by adding more embellishments or keep them simple and add a patterned ribbon for detail.

These tags are so easy to do as well! Pick out some cute patterned scrap book paper at your local craft store, get some matching yarn and just add the text by hand using a black or brown marker! Super easy... super cute... super cheap!

Lauren's Invites & Extras!

Lauren and her mom contacted me from Texas to design Lauren's wedding invitations and extras at her August wedding. I'm so in love with the green and brown colors and think that it really has an old fashion country feel that is classic. I also had the opportunity to design coordinating seating charts, table signs and name cards using the same concepts from the invitations. Lauren's mother, Kristy, found these amazing rustic brown iron frames that she put the table numbers in and placed on each table which is such an easy and beautiful way to display table signs. I just love the whole custom stationary package and how every detail was personalized to the unique event.

It's Fall!

So... it's officially fall! I must say that I'm more of a summer person, but I do love the fall... the colors, the trees, the weather! Here are some festive fall invitations that I designed for Amanda. When I first met with Amanda it was in the spring time so it was interesting coming up with concepts for a fall wedding. I must say that I'm in love with the color orange and think it's such a beautiful wedding color! I almost used orange in my own wedding colors and then last minute I changed my mind.... although my wedding was perfect, I do wish I would have Incorporated it into my colors! The concept that Amanda really wanted to use on her invitations was a tree so we designed a pine tree silhouette that really created that fall theme!

Many brides choose their wedding colors according to the time and location of their wedding. I love the idea of having the theme of your wedding match the seasonal colors of the date, but I encourage brides to think outside of the box and come up with some creative color pallets.

For example, take a fall wedding....

-traditional colors to use for fall weddings:

brown, red, burgundy, orange, tan, cream, yellow

-creative colors to use for a fall wedding:

plum purple, forest green, dark pink, navy, charcoal gray, gold

*Design tip* - use a combination of both traditional and creative fall wedding colors to create the perfect balance!

I met Chris and Shauna back at the first of the year and have been working with them all the way up to there beautiful event in Michigan a few weeks ago! Shauna has an amazing attention to detail and wanted something super unique for her wedding invitations. We incorporated a paisley design on the invites and insert cards and printed in a garnet red and gold ink. The colors meshed so perfectly with all the details of the inserts. My favorite thing about these invitations is the green reception cards. This was an idea that Shauna had to do little pictures to create a timeline for the evening events. I just love the added detail and personalization it adds!

Here are a few pictures from Lindsay & Jonny's wedding! Their colors where charcoal & saffron.... super hot colors for the year! I thought this design board would be nice to see how the invitations flowed with the rest of the decor! The floral design was done by the amazing Audrey with Studio Stems and awesome photography by Dustin Izatt with digital izatt.

For the invitations we did a charcoal scored pocket with a "vintage Hollywood glam" design printed in yellow on top of a light gray shimmer stock.

Lindsi's Invites!

We designed Lindsi's invitations around her fall wedding she chose the colors: brown, deep red and ivory. For the pocket we went with a neutral campaign color and accented the outside of the pocket with a deep red ribbon wrap and initial seal. In the inside of the pocket we backed the invitation with a deep red shimmer stock and printed on an ivory shimmer stock in brown ink. Lindsi and Brandon are getting married at the beautiful and romantic Millcreek Inn and these invitations perfectly represent their classy fall affair! Chelsea's Invites!

Chelsea was so much fun to work with and her invites really show off her fun personality! For her invitation Chelsey wanted to do something not to traditional and really bright. We went with a hot pink custom score pocket that was accented with a green and white polka-dot ribbon for flair. We printed the invitations on white shimmery stock in black and matching apple green ink and backed them with a black linen stock. For the insert cards we added a paisley design for a little extra chicness! To seal the deal we printed a custom return address on the back flap of the eye catching hot pink envelopes! I love it when people do colored envelopes..... it just adds to the uniqueness and style of the event. Thanks Chelsea.... you are awesome!

Lauren's Save the Dates & Invites!

Lauren contacted me all the way from Washington, DC to design her save the dates and wedding invitations and check out how great everything turned out with only talking via phone and e-mail! We started with designing the save the dates. Lauren wanted these to be a little more fun so we did an azalea pink 4x5 Z-fold card with a pyrite backing and printed on an ivory matte stock. We created a monogram design that was used on the save the date as well as for the return address on the back of the envelope. We used an ivory ribbon to close the card.

For the invitations we went with a more formal and traditional look by using the pyrite pocket as the main color with accents of pink and brown. We designed a response card, schedule of events card, and a custom directions and map card that where inserted into the pocket. To close the pocket we used the same monogram design from the save the dates as the seal for the invites.

I absolutely love the simplicity and sophistication of these invitations and how everything from the save the dates to the invites is perfectly coordinated.

Lauren, it has been a pleasure to work with you and I feel like I know you so well even though we have never met in person! Thank you so much for letting me be apart of your wedding.... I know it is going to be beautiful and detail oriented like your invitations are! Thanks again!

Clarissa and Eric's colors where purple, light pink, and forest green. When they first told me what their colors where I thought that they where an interesting and different combination of colors to choose.... but I can't get over how amazing they look together! We chose a dark purple pocket fold, with a light pink backer, a thin forest green layer, topped with printing on an ivory linen stock. Clarissa and Eric wanted to incorporate a damask design to create that bold eye catching look that we used alternating in purple and green ink. To close off the pocket we used a custom designed monogram square seal.

Custom monograms and logos are super hot right now for weddings! It's just another great way to create a unique and custom wedding. I have been designing a lot of custom motifs for my clients that we use on everything from the invitations to the thank you cards to the signs and table setting at the wedding event. Its great to incorporate these custom designs into all aspects of the wedding to give the event a really smooth and flowing atmosphere, and not to mention a personalized touch! These designs can be completely personalized by adding the oh so popular initials, names and/or wedding date.

Jill wanted to have a traditional and sophisticated look to her wedding invitations so we used natural colors: champagne, pyrite, and ivory to create a classic look. To add a little modern twist we Incorporated a landscape pyrite pocket that is great for organization of insert cards and photos. We used paisley and regalia designs to create a patterned boarder for the cards as well as to add accents to the front seal and envelope.

Jill was referred to me by one of my past clients Brianne who is also Jill's soon to be sister in law! Thank you so much Brianne for the referral and thank you thank you Jill for being such a great client! You are such a fun person and so great to work with! Best of luck to you guys!

The Perfect Pear!

Theme weddings are so much fun and I LOVE "the perfect pear theme" that Nikki and Ryan wanted to incorporate into their wedding invitations! When I meet with my clients I like to ask them what kind of a theme or feel do they want their wedding to have and what kind of a message to they want to send with their invitations. Custom designs and monograms really set your wedding invitations apart from every other wedding and really give it a unique feel. Pink Piggy is great for those brides out there looking to do something different and custom for their special event. The big thing in weddings right now is having every aspect of your wedding coordinate and have a continues design and theme tie everything together! Having a custom design or monogram is so hot right now and what a better way to make your wedding truly unique then with your own logo! Creativity is endless!

For Nikki's invites we did two different styles. For everyone that was invited to the wedding ceremony and dinner we did a 5x5 side pocket fold style with backing layers, inserts and belt loops in the back for the ribbon to tie through. Then for the people that where just invited to the reception they got a 5x7 card with a regalia pattern backing that looked amazing with the pear design. Thanks so much Nikki!

The Grand Wishing Tree!

This past Saturday was the Spring Bridal Show at the Grand America Hotel and I shared a booth with one of my bestest friends Audrey with Studio Stems. For our booth design we decided to separate the booth by adding a gold wishing tree in the middle of the booth. Wishing trees are for your guests to sign their wishes on and hang, and looks amazing as a center piece! This is a great alternative to a guest book. Another great use of these trees is to hang table numbers and guest names from them if you have assigned seating. I can't even tell you how unique these trees are and what a hit it was at the show! Easter Eggs!

Of all the symbols associated with Easter the egg, the symbol of fertility and new life, is the most identifiable. The customs and traditions of using eggs have been associated with Easter for centuries.

Originally Easter eggs were painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring and were used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts. After they were colored and etched with various designs the eggs were exchanged by lovers and romantic admirers, much the same as valentines. In medieval time eggs were traditionally given at Easter to the servants. In Germany eggs were given to children along with other Easter gifts.

Sally's Invites

I love the colors that we used for Sally's invites! The purple, green, and pink look amazing with each other as well create that a romantic whimsical feel. Sally originally wanted to incorporate a heart design on her invites and it slowly evolved to a swirly tree! I'm so in love with the chic look of trees and I love the way that this designed turned out! For the invites we did a 7x7 bamboo green square pocket (square is my favorite.... although square invites require more postage... so keep that in mind) We printed on pear white shimmer paper with matching green and pink ink. To close the pocket we used the same design and date to create a cute square seal.

The bottom pictures are the actual designs for the invites. I also LOVE the quote that Sally picked out and based the design off of! Simple and sweet! I think that sayings and quotes can add a unique touch to really personalize and set the theme for you wedding. Thanks Sally!

Natalie's Invites!

How beautiful and elegant are Natalie's Invites? Her colors where blush pink and gold which are the "in" colors for the year! I absolutely love the traditional and sophisticated look of these invites, but yet they have a modern organized pocket look that really creates that ultimate elegance! The printed floral design on the pockets also ads that extra design element. The invitations were printed on cream shimmer paper with gold thermography or 'raised ink' printing. The thermography process is when the printed paper is removed from the press with wet ink, a plastic powder is sprayed on the wet ink and then blown off. The plastic powder absorbs the ink color. The paper is then heated until the plastic powder melts leaving a raised ink which you can feel. Thermography can be more expensive then other forms of printing, but the look of the raised ink is so classy! On the outside of the pocket Natalie wanted to do a blind embossed initial seal which is when the paper is pressed up with no ink printed.

Baby Mia!

These are Mia's baby announcements that I did for my cousin Melissa! How cute is she? And how cute are those announcements! This was such a fun design to work on because Melissa wanted to do something really different then that standard photo birth cards. We chose to do hot pink shimmery 5x5 pockets with a lime green regalia/paisley pattern for the backing. Then we incorporated the same design onto the card. Then we inserted a photo card that had 3 pictures of little Mia! I love these pockets because they are great for holding insert photos. My favorite thing is the little foot seal on the front! too cute! Thanks Melissa and congratulations!

Jamie's Invites

Jamie's invites are already featured on my website but I have not done a blog on them yet! Don't you just LOVE the colors! Green has to be my favorite color (yes... I actually, secretly love green, more than pink... but not by much!) I think green is such a great main color and also an amazing accent color. For Jamie's invites we chose to do a custom scored pocket in bronze brown with green tea backing card stock and band wrap. For the ribbon embellishment we chose to go with a cream scalloped ribbon, which is one of my favorite ribbons to use! I love the chic/vintage look of it! The invitations where printed on cream linen paper with perfectly matching shades of ink.

These green and brown invites have been a huge hit this spring and I must say that I love all my work, but these invites are one of my faves! Congratulations Jamie!

Home-Made Valentiens Day Cards!

Did you know?

Since the Middle Ages sweethearts have exchanged valentines on February 14 -- a date commemorating the death of a Roman priest named Valentine who performed forbidden marriages.

Here are some fun home made valantiens day card ideas that are easy and cute to do for that special person in your life!

Hearts and Blocks Valentines

1. Press a heart-shaped cookie cutter into an eraser to make a heart-shaped stamp; use the utility knife to cut out rectangular and square blocks, which can either provide a background for the hearts or serve as the main design.
2. When planning designs, experiment with color and form: Try complementing pink with neutrals and greens, or use pale-colored ink on dark paper. Combine shapes in unexpected ways to create elegant effects: A silhouetted heart surrounded by color blocks, for example, suits the space as nicely as hearts in rows.

Heart Seals

Tug at your valentine's heartstrings with an embellished envelope. Cut out the hearts from colored card stock using a specialty hole punch (available at crafts stores). Poke two holes into each heart with a needle, then sew the hearts onto dual-capacity envelopes (buy your own or download our template) using the needle and silk beading cord. Secure stitches with a double knot on the backside of the flaps. After inserting the valentine, close the envelope by winding a 5-inch length of the cord in a figure-eight motion around the hearts.

Glittered Cards

1. Start with stamp rubber-side up. Ink the stamp by lightly tapping with ink pad. Once the stamp is completely covered, lift it straight up. Hold stamp an inch from your mouth and "huff" on it to remoisten the ink.
2. Using a ruled cutting mat as a guide, find the center of your card. Stamp the image onto card. Let ink dry.
3. Highlight details with a fine-tip glue pen. Sprinkle glitter. Let dry.
4. Sign name in ink color that matches stamps. Brush off excess glitter with a soft paintbrush.

Stiched Hearts

1. Fold a piece of construction paper into a card (our card is a 5 1/2-inch square), or use a blank pre-made card. Using scissors or a heart craft punch, cut six same-size, 1 1/2-inch-tall heart shapes from construction paper in different colors (if using scissors, use one heart as a template to trace the remaining five). Fold hearts in half lengthwise, creating creases down their centers.
2. Cut two 2-by-4 1/2-inch paper rectangles. Use a small piece of double-sided tape to affix each rectangle horizontally to the front of the card (as shown). Make two pencil marks on each heart's center crease, 1/2 inch apart; use a microhole punch or an embroidery needle to make a hole at each mark.
3. Affix three hearts to each rectangle on the card, overlapping the hearts slightly (as shown). Poke the needle through the holes in each heart and through the front of the card. Cut a 3 1/2-inch length of waxed twine, and thread it through the holes of one heart so that a single stitch shows on the outside and the loose ends are inside. Pull loose ends of twine until the stitch is taut, and tie in a knot. Trim ends. Repeat with remaining hearts.

Valentine Flowers

1. Cut out five to eight hearts of the same size, and inscribe them. Use a pushpin to make a hole near the pointed end of each heart.
2. For a wire stem, thread a small bead onto a piece of 24-gauge wire cut a little longer than you want the stem to be; twist the wire so the bead stays at the end. Thread hearts on the other end until all the hearts are stacked against the bead. Twist the wire again to keep the hearts in place. Cover the stem with floral tape, or glue ribbon around the wire.
3. For a ribbon stem, thread a bead to the center of a 3-inch length of wire, and bend the wire in half. Send the ends through the hole in each heart. On the back, form the two ends into a small loop around the midpoint of a length of ribbon; trim the excess wire.

Quilling Valentines: Stationery

These open hearts begin as single strips of paper; crease them at the center and then roll inward from each end. Glue several to a card, and write candy-heart sentiments beneath them. Or slip one to a secret and let it speak for itself.
Classic valentine messages never go out of style. You can shape individual strips of paper, curling the ends as you would a ribbon, to form letters that resemble calligraphy. Use carefully placed dabs of craft glue to hold each letter in place

Melinda's Invites

Purple is always a popular wedding color every season and it can be combined with different accent colors to really bring out a particular style and feel. For Melinda's invites we went with a gold metallic accent paper with matching purple and gold ink and an iridescent gold ribbon. Gold is such a great accent color to any color pallets, but yellows and gold really look amazing with purple because they are complimentary colors. These colors where great for a winter wedding and like I have said before that any color can work for any season... it just depends on what accent colors you incorporate into your pallet as well!

Heather's Invites

These are Heather Beesley's wedding invitations that we did back in December.... I have been waiting to get all new pictures of my recent work for my new website so stay tuned for that as well as some catching up on the blog!

So I love these invites that we did for Heather! She really wanted an elegant and traditional look, but didn't want them to be boring. Her colors where black and cream so we did a custom landscape black pocket with cream shimmery card stock for the invite and enclosure cards. We added a Victorian design to the band wrap to give it a little extra uniqueness as well as sophistication. We also used this same design for the matching thank you cards. I love how traditional this invitation is but how we created a custom look with the landscape pocket and band wrap.

Dana's wedding was in December and these where her gold metallic invitations! I love the colors that Dana chose. This is a good example of other great winter wedding colors besides black and red. Don't get me wrong... there is nothing wrong with black and red... but there are a lot of brides that feel like those are the only colors to use for winter weddings. We used a antique gold metallic pocket envelope with green and cream accents. I love the sophistication of this look! Brides... don't be afraid to think outside the box and choose some fun colors!

Happy New Year to everyone! 2007 was such a great year and I just wanted to say thank you to a few people who really made it a great year. Out of Office.... on Vaca!

I'm leaving tomorrow for a seven day cruise to the Eastern Caribbeans and couldn't be more excited to finally get a break away from my busy busy life and spend some time with my family! This has been such a great year and I'm so thankful for all my clients who have kept me so busy... but I need a vaca! I will not be able to get a hold of until I'm back in the office on Dec. 17th. No cell phone.... no e-mail... so nice! Happy Holidays!

Courtney's Invites

These pictures totally do not do these invites for Courtney justice! These invites have to be my favorite from the fall! The colors, the paper, the ink, the leafs.... there are so many details that went into creating these invites and so much time.... but that's what we do at Pink Piggy.... the satisfaction of our clients and uniqueness of our invites comes first! I did two different designs for Courtney, one for her invitations and one for her announcements. This is a great option for brides who want to do something really creative for their invites and a toned down version for their announcements, this is also a great way to keep costs down and allow for more of a budget for the invites. The pocket that Courtney chose was bronze with an orange/copper leaf design swirled over the entire pocket. Inside, the invites where printed on a cream shimmery paper and printed with perfectly matching Orange/copper ink . The pocket was sealed with a copper leaf! {LOVE THOSE!}

For the announcement we used a bronze four corner fold pouch with the same copper and cream paper inside. We also incorporated the same leaf design from the invitations. The announcements where topped of with sealing wax and a maple leaf seal! Courtney- you and your family are awesome! Love your creativeness and willingness to try something new! Thanks!

Sneak Peak...

This is just a little sneak peak of one of the Christmas cards I'm working on this season! This is the Duke family! Joy told me that she loved polka dots and ribbon.... so I designed this cute photo card that is darling..... but that's not all..... they are going to go in a green shimmer pocket that will have a red with green polka dot ribbon tied around the pocket! Pockets and ribbon are such a great way to make your Christmas cards different from all the other photo cards that people send out! Make sure you check back to see the full design with the pocket!

Andria's Invites & Guest Book!

Andria has been one of my most laid back clients this fall and so awesome to work with! Andria's wedding colors are red, black and white and she wanted to incorporate these colors into her invites. We went with a black landscape pocket that is perfect to organize and hold her insert cards and engagement picture. For the invite card I added a simple black border and for a little extra modern touch we added a black & white polka dot ribbon. I love using ribbon with invitations... I think that it adds to the design by creating different layers and textures. When picking a ribbon it is very important for me to keep in mind the entire concept of the invitations including colors and printed designs. When I'm designing an invitation that is more on the simple side like Andria's invites with no designs on the card, adding a ribbon with a design on it such as polka dots really ties the whole invite together! For invitations with graphic designs on them it is better to choose a solid ribbon in order to not draw away from the designs.

This is the one that we are going to use for our Christmas cards!

I'm so stinkin' excited to show off my new family pics that we just had done by Jason McGrew Photography! I wanted to get some pics of my cute husband and kids, Rico and Mini, for our Christmas cards we are sending out this year. Jason did such an amazing job and I couldn't be happier! We had so much fun and the dogs loved it too! We always joke around and say that Mini (the little brown one) thinks she is a princess and she always wants to be the center of attention so this was her photo shoot to show off just how cute she is! Jason, I just want to say thank you so much for the opportunity to work with such a professional and for creating such amazing work! I LOVE LOVE them!

Tara's Invite!

These Invites where designed for such a cute girl names Tara! I loved working with her because it seemed like both our ideas just clicked and we were able to create these awesome invites! Black and red are really popular fall/winter wedding colors so I really wanted to do something that would make her invites be unique and stand out with all the other red invites that people will be getting. Tara also picked more of a maroon red instead of a traditional red which was such a great color. We designed these pocket invites with the idea that she wanted to do a photo strip for her pics which is really what makes this invite so great! Creativity and design are a must in coming up with that truly unique invite.... but what really makes them look even better (which most brides don't think about) is how the invite is organized and presented. This invite is a perfect example of a well presented invite with all the information organized and put together to compliment the design and colors. Congrats Tara!

Tea Party!

Becki came to me with the cutest idea for a bridal shower invite. She wanted to do a tea party for the bridal show and wanted the invites to look like a tea party! How cute is that! We used a really cute "green tea" color pocket to hold the insert card. On the card I designed a cute tea cup and saucer to go along with the theme of the shower. The card was printed on a cream shiny paper and backed with a light pink shiny paper to really make it stand out and look girlie! I just love these colors and love the tea party idea! Customized bridal shower invites are such a great way to create a fun theme for a shower. The possibilities are endless! Guest Books

Here is the guest book that I designed for Brianne! Her invites were so cute so I incorporated the same style and feel as the invites into this brown and orange guest book. The book above is an 8x8 canvas brown book with an orange ribbon to add a little extra style to it! Pink Piggy offers more than just invitations and announcements. We also do custom designed guest books, which are really cute and so much more personable, than those white books that you get from the store! You can choose from many different color books and sizes. Inside I design photo pages with pictures you provide of you and your fiancée. These are so much fun because your guests can look through the book and see your pics as well as have a place for them to sign it. Brianne Invites

This seasonal orange and brown invite has to be one of my favorites to design and I absolutely love the way they turned out! This invite was for Brianne who along with her mother have been one of my favorite clients to work with! Brianne and I came up with some really great ideas and it was fun to feed off of each other. Her colors where orange, cream, and brown which were perfectly suited for her fall wedding. We printed on cream shimmer paper with brown ink and accents of orange for the names. The invitation was backed with an orange shimmer card stock that matched the orange band around the brown pocket. These custom created pockets are a great way to organize invitations with lots of inserts and as well as being super stylish. We livened up the insert cards with an orange fall leaf design which really brought the look and feel of the colors and season together. The invite was topped off with a monogram seal which really sealed the deal! I just love it and have enjoyed the design process so much! Thanks Brianne.... you are so cute!

Baby Maddox

This is a baby shower invite that I did for Jamie and her soon to be baby boy Maddox, which I just love that name! For this invited I used a light blue shimmer paper printed with brown ink. The card was backed with a brown and blue polka-dot paper and placed in a matching polka-dot pocket. Red Robyn!

These red invites are hotness! Red and black can be some what of a common seasonal color right now... but these red and black invites or anything but ordinary! Robyn is one of my really good friends all of they way back from junior high! I was so excited when I was able to do her invites cause she really is such a sweet girl and I just loved working with her! Robyn told me that her colors were red and black and that I can do what ever I wanted to for the design and that rocked! I wanted to do something really flashy and striking so I designed the invites with a black and white patterned backing card stock, another layer of shiny black card stock, and then we printed the perfect shade of red on top of white shiny paper with white knockouts for the names. Even though these were "just a card" with nothing fancy added to them like folded pockets or ribbon... they still looked just as awesome! That is the great thing about Pink Piggy is that we can do "just a simple card" but still make it very unique and different from any other invitations you have ever seen. I couldn't have been more happy with the way these turned out and how much fun I had being able to design something that is truly one of a kind! Thanks again Robyn and best wishes!

Take a second look cause these are not invites to someones wedding, but they could be! For those of you who didn't know... Pink Piggy also does designs for business advertising. Don't these ads look so sleek and classy! These are actually some ads that I designed for my friend Jason with Jason McGrew Photography. He passed these unique ads out at the Bridal Extravaganza show last weekend. I just love the way that these cards turned out! I designed them using a graphite shine outer pocket envelope to hold the ads and business card together. I added kind of a funky floral design to the cards to set them off and give them a really edgy modern look. To top it all of they were sealed with silver wax and an "m" seal which was the ultimate touch in classiness! I love combining modern designs with some traditional touches to give an over all custom look and feel. These not so average ads are sure to turn some heads!

Eggplant for Kamilla

Kamilla came to me looking for something really unique, classy and most of all it had to have the eggplant color in it! (For those of you who don't know what color eggplant is.... well its a deep purple) The great thing about Pink Piggy is that we have such a wide variety of colors and papers that we can always make sure that our clients can find that exact color they are looking for, and we pride ourselves in coming up with great color combinations that compliment each other! I love the colors that we chose for this invite! The eggplant purple was really striking next to the bamboo green! We printed on white shimmer paper with metallic gold ink which really was the perfect touch! Thanks Kamilla & Jacob! It was a pleasure to work with you!

Suzette Invites!

Those of you at the Bridal Show last weekend got a sneak peak on this new invite, but for those of you who haven't seen it yet... check it out! Suzette wanted a really traditional look for her wedding invitations. She wanted her invites to look very elegant and traditional while still being unique. We used a very beautiful calligraphy font as well a traditional Roman small caps font. I love to use more than one font on invitations because I feel like it really makes the words stand out! Suzette wanted her invites printed on a cream shimmer paper with brown thermography or 'raised ink' printing. The thermography process is when the printed paper is removed from the press with wet ink, a plastic powder is sprayed on the wet ink and then blown off. The plastic powder absorbs the ink color. The paper is then heated until the plastic powder melts leaving a raised ink which you can feel. This creates the ultimate classic and rich look! We then backed the invites with a bamboo green layer and placed them in a brown shimmer pouch with matching green and cream ribbons to tie it all together! I love this color combination so much and I think they turned out truly beautiful! Congratulations Suzette!

This past weekend Pink Piggy was a vendor at the Bridal Extravaganza at the Grand America Hotel. The show turned out so great! I can't believe how many brides where there and how much fun it was to meet with all of you! I had a great location next to Matt Christensen Photography who does amazing work and made me laugh all day! He for sure is not your average grumpy photographer! We were also next to a Photographer from Memoria Productions who just moved from California to Utah who was super nice and I love his work! The day went great due to help from my partners Ann and Sophie who I could not have done it without! Also, my booth would not have looked as great as it did with out the creative design and floral help done by the one and only Audrey with Studio Stems. I love you and thank you so much! And thanks to all those that stoped by and said hi!

Bridal Extravaganza at the Grand!

We are having our first premier at the Bridal Extravaganza show at the Grand America in Salt Lake city! It is this Saturday from 11-5pm. I'm so excited to be apart of the this great bridal show that is also giving away more than $25,000 in free prizes for brides! Everyone who wants to come meet me and get to know Pink Piggy a little better feel free to stop by our booth. I have to put a special thanks out there to Audrey with Studio Stems... she is such a great friend and she will also be displaying some of her great designs at our booth! Plus, we are going to be giving away a gift certificate to a lucky winner who will receive 100 custom designed thank you cards that can be made to match your invitations and colors! I love to meet new people and chat.... and we always offer complimentary consultations!

I have been tagged by Audrey O'Brien... who by far does the best flowers in town! I guess I'm supposed to tell a few random things about me so I'm going to follow in Audrey's lead! Here goes...

1. Favorite food- I'm the least pickiest eater and I will try anything (that's eatable). I really love spicy food and nothing is better then seafood and pot stickers.

2. Favorite book - hmmm well I don't read a whole lot. I love to read but I rarely have the chance to do so since I usually work tell late at night, but a great book that I have read was "The Lovely Bones." I highly recommend it!

3. Favorite place - my home is one of my favorite places. I know that's not very interesting, but I do love my home and I love being lazy in it and spending time with my family. I have done a lot of traveling though, and one of the most interesting places that I have been to is New Orleans. Such good food and site seeing!

4. Fears, when I was little I used to be terrified of sharks, but now I just fear being bitten or eaten by any kind of animal. I also fear the dark and I fear losing people that are close to me.

5. I'm pretty spiritual, but in my own way. I have my own beliefs and passions . After losing my brother this past year I have really come to realize what things are most important to me in life. My family means everything to me and I'm also very sensitive and care deeply for those special people in my life.

6. Other passions, I love to dance! I have danced my whole life and it is one of my true passions!I also teach dance part time and I can't believe how rewarding it is to teach little girls! Dancing is another creative aspect of my life and there is nothing more relaxing then listening to music and interpreting it into moves.

7. I'm the proud mother of two adorable chihuahuas! Rico is the oldest and he is black, white, and tan. He is so a mom's boy and LOVES food! Everyone always says that he is fat, and I just tell them that he is loved! My baby girl is Mini and she is cinnamon brown with white paws. She is the happiest dog I have ever seen and you can't help but laugh and smile when she is around. She loves to give kisses to anyone that will let her!

8. I love to watch movies with my husband and just take a break from my super crazy life! Some good ones that we just watched were: 300 and Shooter. I absolutely love Mark Wahlberg!

9. Something interesting about me is that my husband it 6" 4' and I'm 5 feet even! People always are so amazed by that. I love tall guys!

10. So last but not least... I'm extremely indecisive. I can not make decisions fast. I always like to analyze everything. I'm always worried that I'm going to choose the wrong thing! I also get board easily with things so I always need to switch things up. I love to eat food and I love to sleep. Sundays are my favorite day of the week!

Well thats just a little about me... hope it was some what interesting! I agree with Audrey... I think from now when someone tags you... you have to say 5 things you like about that person... instead of talking about yourself!

Well... after a good friend Audrey introduced me into a new world of blogging, I have decided to start my very own! I hope this can be a fun place where everyone can get to see all the new invites and announcements that I'm working on and give everyone a little insight to my designs and creative personality! I have had so much fun thus far meeting new people and being apart of those special times in their lives. Creating new designs with color combinations and paper is my passion and I'm so excited to be able to share that with everyone! Hope you enjoy!
